Art In Generalheld an event atits newest venue in downtown Manhattan, at 100 Lafayette Street,on June 14.
This unique art and music spacewas being launched by a group of artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs that included Andrew W.K. and Spencer Sweeney.
The Saturday evening event was curated by James Fuentes and included alive performances by I.U.D., RINGS, and Paisley & Sage.
Art in General is in a distinctive position to hold an event at 100 Lafayette, as the 26-year old organization at 79 Walker Street welcomes its new neighbor around the corner. From 8:00pm to 11:00pm the vision and sounds of James Fuentes, Lizzi Bougatsos, Nina Mehta, Gerry Schumm, Joseph Beuys, Jamie Del Moon, Gilbert & George and many others, took over the first floor of 100 Lafayette’s two-story club.
Tickets were $100 each and included drinks for the evening. Cocktails were provided by 100 Lafayette and beerwas compliments of Grolsch.
Proceeds from the event benefit Art in General exhibitions, commissions and residencies for emerging artists, as well as free public programs and in-school education programming for at-risk youth. The guest list began with a dedicated committee of art supporters including honorary chair Chlo Sevigny, Michel Allen of Allen Gallery, Boshko Boskovic, Lauren Burke, Elijah Duckworth-Schachter, Peter Duhon of Art Comments, Michael Dyer, Mara Flynn, Jeanhie Hahn, Florian Idenburg, Christina Kang, Elissa Levy, Jing Liu, Hanne Mugaas, Kathy Murphy of Modern Painters, Sylvia Renner, Yasmin Reshamwala, Ryan Ross, Tracey Ryans, Ramses Serrano, Andrew Sharpe, Stephan Stoyanov of LUXE Gallery, Melinda I. Wang, Meegan Williams and Trevor Smith.
