?as a social entrepreneur, due to his burning passion to create, and his duty to serve. His starting point, at 18 years old was organizing a successful charity bicycle tour, “The Vancouver to Toronto Ride For Youth”. The venture earned $27,000 for two worthy charities and captured the imagination of the country, earning national newspaper and television coverage. Alex’s true rethos was sparked in 2003, when an accident forced him to confront the reality of death. Coming to terms with the brevity and gift of life, Alex resolved a plan to relentlessly pursue personal and universal human goals. Alex postponed his degree in economics at Princeton University to assist in the launch of TerraCycle Inc. ( http://www.terracycle.net www.terracycle.net ) – a company producing the world’s first product derived from and packaged in waste. Alex’s rethos was further solidified after being exposed to an uncensored internet video produced by Witness on Sierra Leone’s diamond trade in which the uncensored image of a mutilated child froze in his mind. What would that child do if they were given another chance and where in my shoes? Alex’s answer was to use the power of media to unite millions on the rethos vision of optimism and urgency. After co-founding Blue Horizon Media in 2005, a cause marketing agency, Alex co-founded Rethos, Inc. – a network of social media properties uniting individuals, non-profit organizations and socially responsible businesses on solutions to social and environmental issues. Alex now stands poised to lead his generation through a revision of fundamental beliefs. More About Alex Salzman go to: rethos.com/Alex
