To: All the Members of the Bayside Village BID and
Merchants along the Bell Boulevard Business Corridor,
The framework has been set, the foundation has been laid and the broad strokes
on the canvass of the Bell Boulevard Business Corridor’s future have now been painted !
As you all keep witnessing, there truly is “A New Vitality” and energy in Bayside
and the Bayside Village BID is working for you 24/7 to bring about a renaissance that
you’re all asking for and will all prosper from as it takes shape.
Just so you know, at last Monday’s Community Board 11 meeting the Chairman
publicly complimented us on a job well done with the Music Festival we just put on
and as I pointed out, for the first time in approximately 17 years a street activity permit was issued to Bayside
for a street closing and that your Bayside Village BID just delivered a flawlessly executed “Music Festival” to Bayside
that set the framework and produced a solid foundation for bigger and better events to come.
As I mentioned, especially because it was on a primarily residential street we went light on the promotion
and played it safe to make sure this first festival went off without a hitch
and had all bases covered to show the powers that be that it’s time to open up the streets again
and that the right people are in place that can be counted on to do the right job– and we succeeded !
Now it’s time to bring on the people and re-establish Bayside as everyones first choice
and as THE SINGLE MOST DESIRABLE DESTINATION POINT
for anyone and everyone when they’re thinking of going out to dine, to shop or to socialize.
With this sequence of events in October:
1) The First Annual Fire and Safety Awareness Day Music Festival (last Saturday)
2) The First Annual Outdoor Retail Expo and Music Festival (this upcoming Sunday Oct 9th)
3) The Second Annual Bayside Art and Crafts Festival (Oct 16th)
4) The Bell Boulevard Halloween Window Decoration Contest (Oct 28-30th)
and the “Glamour Nights Out” and “Fashion Shows” we’re planning for November
we suspect that you will all be experiencing a measurably fatter wallet to take to the banks
this season.
But to really bring it home and make this season one of the best you’ve had in years we need your participation.
Attached is a generic poster created for this upcoming Sunday’s Outdoor Retail Expo and Music Festival.
Please e-mail blast it out to everyone you’ve got and post it on your websites ,
Facebook and Twitter accounts if you have them.
Our goal is to attract as wide a diversity and dynamic range of attendee as possible
and one that reflects as wide a diversity and dynamic range of establishments as Bayside has to offer.
We only enhance our own customer’s Bayside experience by offering them the excitement
that these street events create for them to enjoy
and the more your patrons see people like themselves on the street
the more likely they’ll be to come back and call Bayside “Home”.
Plain and simple -the more of your own people you get on the street this Sunday
the better it will be For You and for all of us.
It only serves each shopkeeper, service provider, restauranteur and bar owner to solicit as many of their own customers as possible
and promote getting them down to this Sunday’s Outdoor Retail Expo on 41st Ave by the LIRR Train Station between 12 noon and 6 pm
because the weather is going to be perfect on Sunday and this will be a great , music filled event
and you’ll be giving your own customers something they’ll adopt as their own
and that they’ll take pride in and have fun at
before coming back to your place to shop or use your services or eat and drink and talk about the Expo.
If you help advertise this event to your customers you should see more business from it.
The greater the attendance we get, the greater and more memorable the event will be
and the greater a destination Bayside becomes.
Lastly, in addition to e-mailing this out as a courtesy service you provide for your customers,
please print it out and post it someplace very visible in your shops, offices or restaurants
and speak to your staff about this Sunday’s Festival and ask them to start spreading the word around town.
Word of mouth is as powerful a marketing tool as we have so please ask your partners, employees or co-workers
to mention this Sunday’s Festival whenever and wherever they can
AND–
if you’re a retail store or a service provider or a sponsor please make sure you contact me asap
to secure your free table space at the Expo when we turn 41st Ave into a pedestrian mall this Sunday.
Thank you all for your cooperation and unity in this.
If we’re all working together to bring people to Bayside you’re all going to benefit.
Sincerely,
Gregg P. Sullivan
Executive Director
