Peace Troubadour Cecilia St. King came to our studio here at Good News Broadcast prior to her performance for the September Concerts in Greeley Square at 32nd and 6th Ave in NYC at 3:30PM today 9/11. Cecilia sang for us in our studio “An Eye for an Eye,” “Peace on Earth” and “Faith and a Feeling” and shares her own personal experience on 9/11/2001. Cecilia was at the World Trade Center when the buildings fell, her sister worked nearby and they lost a relative, fireman Michael Carroll. She is a singer/songwriter who performs motivational spirit based, non-denominational music with such titles as, “Your Word is Magic,” “Not Going To Hate,” “Peace On Earth,” “Where Courage Will Lead,” and her newest song, “Water Not Weapons,” from a slogan coined by legendary folk singer, Pete Seeger. Currently she lives in New York State’s first capital Kingston, just outside of Woodstock. Getting ready to record a new CD with several of the songs on this site that are guitar vocal demos and/or live recordings. She has wowed audiences in Europe, Japan and New Zealand. Lived in Colorado, and spent ten years honing her craft as a songwriter in Nashville, TN. As well as being an international traveler, she donates her time, again and again, to such worthy causes as singing for Musicians On Call, a group dedicated to bringing the healing power of music to area hospitals, performing for senior citizens and bringing her motivational music programs to inner city schools. After running from the falling towers on that fateful day, 9/11 she took to the streets to sing her songs to rescue workers and people searching for word of the missing. Months later she discovered she had thyroid cancer that threatened to take her voice. After spending 6 months healing in a monastery in New Zealand, like a phoenix rising she came back to lift her voice, committing to being a Peace Troubadour. She was asked to sing for Howard Dean during his run for the Presidency in 2004; opening up a speech he gave on the eve of the Democratic National Convention. Most recently you would have found her at the Peace Rally in Washington D.C. performing for Presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich, and at Demfest working with Democracy for America in Massachusetts along with Presidential Candidate John Edwards and Democratic Chairperson Howard Dean.
