About the Play
A young teenaged girl, Tylah (Lauren Stokes) who has everything she could ever ask for in life, struggles to find true love. She has a close friend, Alonzo (Edward Robertson) who caters to her every need, only to be pushed away by her. Her best friend, Rebecca (Shawnette Hamilton-Robertson) tries to warn her about men who may look good, but who can also be deceiving. While on her journey to love, she struggles with family issues with her brother, Junior (Frank Williams) and with her parents, Rita and James (Dara J. Bragg & Robert Starks). The only soul survivor of the family is her knife carrying, beer drinking, Christian, grandmother, Grandma Viola (Andrea Scott). As her family tries to keep peace within their home, Tylah becomes attracted to one of her co-workers, Jamal (Jovanny Jacobo). Will she ignore her best friend’s advice and go with her co-worker or will she continue to push love away from her friend and let love pass her by?
