BRONX RIVER ALLIANCE & COCA-COLA SCHOLARS TEAM UP
TO REJUVENATE BRONX RIVER GREENWAY
The Coca-Cola Scholars begin their journey with a four-year educational experience, but their spirit of volunteerism and passion for giving back lasts a lifetime. This Saturday, local Coca-Cola Scholars and members of the Coca-Cola family will partner with the Bronx River Alliance at a greening and knotweed removal project as part of the Coca-Cola Scholars National Day of Service and to celebrate Earth Day along the Bronx River. A check presentation from the Coca-Cola Foundation to fund the Alliance’s Rails-to-Trails project along with a rain barrel donation will round out the day’s event.

This event is one of many community service projects taking place this weekend as part of the first-ever Coca-Cola Scholars National Day of Service. To celebrate their shared commitment to making a difference in the world and in honor of Earth Day, Coca-Cola Scholar alumni and Coca-Cola bottlers across the country are partnering with local nonprofits to support their communities in a variety of ways.
There are more than 5,000 Coca-Cola Scholar alumni across the country including 500 in the New York City-metro area. These Scholars form a powerful community committed to shaping a better future through civic engagement, community service and leadership.
Funding from the Rails-to-Trails Metropolitan Grant will allow the Bronx River Alliance to continue working in partnership with stakeholders, including agencies, elected officials, and local community groups, to coordinate and progress several key links and nodes on the Bronx River Greenway.
