EARTH ASKS IF IT SHOULD JOIN MATCH
Earth told me, I’ve loved your bow ties
And what you’ve done with caviar
That Tupperware lets you work with leftovers
And tin foil, your potatoes
You’re learning, from MeToo to NeverAgain
To cut down on the abuse
And that is the next best thing
Since sliced bread
It is It is It is
But what about the fact
You keep fracking me
What about the fact
You rarely call
And I am your mother
I don’t only produce blueberry pies
And sunsets for your Instagram feeds
I am a thing that needs
Just give me this dance
Don’t make me join Match
We’re long distance dating
In plain sight of each other
Like a fish has no concept of water
And I fear we’re divorcing
Before even our first encounter
And I’ll be nice until I can, no longer
You’re freshening your breath
In pursuit of a partner
From a container that will strangle
One of my seagulls later
It doesn’t have to be this way
You’re standing right inside of me
Offline and too close for consideration
As are made
Some of the very best husbands
They are They are They are
Just please, consider me
That thing you breathe
That thing you drink
Swipe, heart, like
Do whatever it takes
To choose my hand that way
Save me for later
Please
Marry me
So that I don’t have to shake you off of me
Don’t make me join Match
To prove to you
You’ve already arrived
Right where you always wanted to be
Or that I’m a loyal partner
Because I already die
A little bit for you each day
Pick me
I’ll be your rock
And you’ll want to stay forever

A throwback shot by Nathalie Michel… If you were able to see the end of that phone cord, you’d see it wasn’t plugged into anything!
Don’t get me wrong: I’ll stay on a call for hours in support of a friend, or I’ll dial into a conference call with a venture capitalist to pitch my product – no matter the butterfly quantity inside me – but in most every case when it comes to the telephone: I pick it up when I’m prepared emotionally, mentally, and spiritually to shift my focused attention from within, to without.
Why? My focus runs deep! I consider that an asset in an attention depleted world… But also, let’s be real, I’m an earth sign! And sometimes we earth signs have trouble bouncing from one thing to another.
Trees don’t go anywhere, for example.
So schedule me, and I’m yours!
Call me on a whim, and I promise I’ll get back to you…
May this photo serve as a reminder that appearances can be deceiving. I may get loud with my colors, but I spend most of my days with my mouth closed.
And I love it that way.
In my opinion, what it means to handle communication properly could use some updating, and some introverts on the decision panel!
Happy Saturday.
Be loud, be quiet, be wild, be silent.
Just be you.
Because you are fantastic.

My heart went heavy down a well on Thursday, and then my mind dove in after it. I didn’t know wells had creatures like these, so I’m praying this is a Jonah and The Whale sort of situation. ????
Still from my “Salty Man” box.

Many traveled West in the pursuit of treasure.
I go West as well, to Third Avenue.

Still from my mini art commission, “The Shana Box”. Made to encourage Shana’s self-care after losing her Mom, this work feels a match tonight in loving memory of my friend, collaborator, and filmmaker extraordinaire: Joe Nardelli
A social advocate on steroids, a man so creatively wound that he barely slept, a man who’d make a pizza and then another – and then another – for his friends, and a friend who’d trek with frozen fingers through a snowstorm in Central Park to get “the shot” for me, I’m forever inspired by Joe’s spirit. It endures within me, and within the countless others I had the heart exploding pleasure of sharing the Cornelia Street Cafe basement with, for a tribute in his honor.
Lady Gaga waited tables there during her start. Joe was a huge fan of hers… In fact, he’d wear a pink tutu over his jeans all around town in support of the sequel film Toxic Tutu that he’d produced with his best friend, Mark Torgl (Melvin from the cult movie, The Toxic Avenger)! Fearless creative expression until the end.
#BornThisWay indeed, Joe.
George Bernard Shaw must have known you’d be coming along when he wrote:
“This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of Nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.
I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. Life is no ‘brief candle’ to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to the future generations.”
Live it up, wherever you are, Joe. ????
