$1500 Energy Tax Credit Ends on December 31st, 2010. Take Advantage of the Savings Before they Expire! www.theinfouwant.com
Home Improvement Expert and TV Personality, Brad Staggs
Since October is Energy Awareness Month, theres no better time to get the word out to US Homeowners that they need to act fast if they want to save money and improve the energy efficiency of their homes at the same time! In an effort to help US Citizens become more energy efficient, a tax credit has been offered for 2009 and 2010. That tax credit will end on December 31st of this year fore certain products, so now is the time to take advantage.
Most homeowners dont know or understand that a tax credit is generally more valuable than an equivalent tax deduction because a tax credit reduces the actual tax dollar paid, dollar-for-dollar. A deduction only removes a percentage of the tax owed. Homeowners who upgrade with qualifying energy efficient products can save up to $1500, which is that much less on their taxes.
Home Improvement Expert/TV Personality Brad Staggs explains what types of products qualify for the Home Improvement Energy Tax Credit, and how homeowners can get the maximum dollar amount allowed. There are certain categories of products that qualify, and each individual product must meet certain energy saving standards before being eligible for the tax credit. Brad discusses the categories and the specific products in each:
Simonton Energy Efficient Windows: To qualify, windows and doors must have a U-factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) less than or equal to .30. Simonton windows meet or exceed these standards and have consistently ranked highest in satisfying builders and remodelers with residential windows and doors. J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Windows and Power Doors Satisfaction Study ranked Simonton highest in both consumer and remodeler categories.
Noritz Tankless Water Heater: Not all water heaters qualify for the tax credit. This tax credit is for non-solar models only. There are no residential tank storage water heaters that qualify although there are some commercial versions that meet the Energy Factor Requirement of .82. Electric Tankless are also NOT eligible, so for the average homeowner, Gas, Oil, or Propane Tankless is what has to be installed to take advantage of the credit. Noritz uses dual flame burner technology and a commercial grade heat exchanger to offer high quality and maximum energy savings.
Clopay Garage Doors: Garage Doors must be purchased and installed in 2009 or 2010 and must have a U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.30 or lower. The door must also have a means of controlling air infiltration around the door such as vinyl weather stripping. Many Clopay insulated steel garage doors qualify for the tax credit.
Staggs also gives information on products that are eligible for the extended tax credit of 30% of the cost, which has been pushed to an end date of December 31st, 2016. These products include Geothermal Heat Pumps, Small Wind Turbines, Solar Energy Systems, and Fuel Cells.
