Recently featured on The Lou Dobbs Show, Houtz believes that the problems our faces today can be solved not only by government programs, but by entrepreneurs as they will be the ones who develop the products, the service, and the innovations that will save our country. A proud Tea Party supporter, Houtzs mission is to stop our government from stacking the deck in favor of special interests, and instead promote free-market competition. In his new book Saving America: Common Sense Solutions to Washington Nonsense (ISBN: 978-0-9826371-0-4), Houtz outlines his plan of action. Whether or not you agree with Houtzs politics, Saving America contains practical advice for how entrepreneurs can be at the forefront of a brighter future for our nation.
A lifelong entrepreneur, Houtz was the founder and CEO of CyCare, the nations number one group practice management software company, which was sold to HBOC in 1996. Today he works with entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial companies to help them grow their business for their own gain and for the survival of our nation. He has served on the board of Clarke College, ADAPSO, and First National Bank. Visit him on the web at www.JimHHoutz.com.
Saving America
A new book reveals how to apply common sense
solutions to Washington nonsense.
Our government is non-responsive, its destroying small business, and it is ignoring major issues we face as a nation, asserts Jim H. Houtz, a lifelong entrepreneur and health care expert. Its time to take the country back from extremist policy makers.
He is so fed up with misguided legislation and inaction from lobby-loyal politicians that he has written a new book to lead a fresh movement, entitled: Saving America: Common Sense Solutions to Washington Nonsense.
Houtzs blueprint for a more prosperous, safer, and healthier America revolves around eight key issues, including the following:
#1 Energy Its time to switch to biofuel and wind/solar-powered electricity.
#2 Health Care Repeal the legislation recently passed by Congress.
#3 Entrepreneurship Americas growth depends on millions of entrepreneurs.
#4 Economy 5-point plan to create jobs and ignite growth.
#5 Congress Throw all of the incumbents out and form a third party.
#6 Military Give veterans better health care and more job placement help.
#7 Immigration Mandate boarder control and what to do with 12 million illegals.
#8 Education Its properly funded but not properly invested.
The inspiration for Saving America came from the Tea Parties and the people who are part of them, says Houtz. Their commitment to a cause and the concern they demonstrate for America is obvious in the number of people who show up to express their outrage about the direction the White House and Congress are taking our country. We want our freedom back.
Houtz, who has appeared on The Lou Dobbs Show, handed out three thousand copies of his book at a Glenn Beck recent Tea Party rally. He may appear to be on a rant at first glance. Indeed, his manifesto unleashes a number of salvos against the government and its politicians. But Houtz has put together a well-researched plan to keep Americas future bright. He uses four decades as an entrepreneur to present a business-based solution to the vital issues confronting our nation. He bleeds red, white, and blue patriotism while the nations balance sheet bleeds red — and he believes entrepreneurs can tackle any problem the country is facing.
I am an entrepreneur and, in truth, its the entrepreneurs not government officials who have historically tackled and solved every major problem known to man, declares Houtz.
Houtz believes his book and the Tea Party movement tap into an angst and unrest felt by most of the country. If we are going to save America, something has to change right now, he writes. I think we need a break from the neo-conservatives and ultra-liberals in Congress. Lets let the moderates have a shot at addressing the issues. Unfortunately, we have ultra-liberals in charge of the House, Senate, and White House. In the fall of 2010 we have a chance to change two of the three, and impact the direction of the White House.
Wanting change faster than government can provide it, Houtz encourages action be taken now for fear well miss a window of opportunity as our nation has hit a fork in the road. If you believe we
can continue along the same path we are on and enjoy our prized American way of life, think again, says Houtz. Somethings gotta give for us to remain the best country in the world.
Houtz poignantly and dramatically addresses the following:
What each citizen needs to know about the most important issues of today.
What role each of us can play in the 2010 elections.
Why a comprehensive energy policy should be our top priority.
How entrepreneurs can reinvigorate America with the governments support.
How the health care problem can be resolved at a tenth of the cost of the recently passed legislation.
How the Tea Party movement will alter the face of Congress.
Houtz presents specific solutions to chronic problems like energy and health care. For instance, on energy he proposes all cars and trucks should be hybrids in the next few years and then electrical before the decade is up. He wants us off oil and onto biofuel and electricity derived from solar, wind and geothermal sources. He wouldnt close any nuclear plants but he wouldnt open any new ones either. He suggests converting all coal plants to producing biofuel and demands Congress must act fast because oil production will peak in two to five years, leaving us with a shortage, skyrocketing prices, and an economy in the hands of oil-producing countries.
The response of many congressional and White House people is that they have an energy policy: its called Cap and Trade, says Houtz. They feel our energy problem will be handled by limiting carbon emissions. Heres the problem: Its not going to work. Cap and Trade is a tax bill, not an energy bill. It addresses the symptoms of the problem, not the source of the problem. The source of the problem is our reliance on fossil fuel for most of our energy. Why cant they see we need to save our energy supply by moving away from fossil fuels?
Though he strongly believes we need to move away from oil and despite the recent disaster in the Gulf of Mexico — he also supports more drilling in the U.S. Well need that oil to buy time as we transition away from it, Houtz says. Plus many of our products use oil its not just to gas up cars. Our oil needs will still have to be met.
Saving America provides a prescription for chronic problems that pose a huge threat to Americas viability, both as a country and as a leader in the world. Houtz says his book is not about whether you like or despise one political party over the other its about the future of our nation. To ignore these issues or not take the proper action now could mean dire consequences for the next generation, warns Houtz. Luckily, there is still time to do something, to be counted, and to make a difference.
