The Eleanor Roosevelt Leadership Center at Val Kill, Hyde Park, New York:
On July 15 and July 29, 2012, the first Meera Gandhi Girls’ Leadership Awards were presented to the four young participants who best demonstrated the leadership qualities of Courage, Compassion, Collaboration and Curiosity during the Girls’ Leadership Worldwide program at the Eleanor Roosevelt Leadership Center’s annual global leadership program for high school students. The winners, chosen by their peers, were Keira Higgins, Vasiliki Mitsakis, Giovanni Marie Roper and Liza Stambaugh. Meera Gandhi presented the young ladies with new Giving Back Foundation crystal trophies and honorariums. These awards are part of the Giving Back Foundation’s five-year commitment to the Eleanor Roosevelt Leadership Center’s inspiring global program to foster leadership among young girls.
St. Michael’s School, New Delhi, India:
As part of the Giving Back Foundation’s five-year commitment to St. Michael’s School for Girls in New Delhi, India, the Foundation is pleased to note that the summer 2012 improvement initiative program includes the waterproofing of the entire roof of the classrooms and the hallways; repairing of all of the school’s ledges which had been broken beyond repair; new electrical wiring and fans/switches in the classrooms and hallways; painting of four classrooms and hallways in cheerful bright colors; replacement of window panes; installation of new pinup boards and new circuit boards; completion of plastering and the painting of entire school block outside. The Giving Back Foundation hopes that these improvements at St. Michael’s School, along with earlier work and the new playground donated to the school by the Foundation, will help inspire future leaders among young ladies in India equal to that of the future leaders at the Eleanor Roosevelt Leadership Center in New York!
