What: GMHC willhost Savor, the organizations highly anticipated annual gastronomic fundraiser. Hosted by celebrity chef Ted Allan of The Food Network’sChopped and honoring Joan Tisch with the inaugural Judith Peabody Humanitarian Award.
A celebration of New Yorks culinary artistry, Savor highlights the important role of food and nutrition at GMHC, which is the only AIDS service organization in the city that offers hunger relief services as part of its array of care services.Over 600 guests are expected to attend this high-profile evening.Inspired by the distinct flavors of the five boroughs of New York, this years event will incorporate sustainable food practices with participating star chefs showcasing the best local produce to create signature dishes. The evening will celebrate the culinary diversity of New York and include a cocktail reception featuring a chef or restaurant from each borough, and a decadent four-course dinner.
This year, GMHC will present the inaugural Judith Peabody Humanitarian Award in memory of Judith Peabody, who was a long-time supporter, advocate, and volunteer.Recognizing the challenge of HIV/AIDS, Mrs. Peabody helped hundreds of people with AIDS as a care partner, and was instrumental in leading support groups for families affected by HIV/AIDS, leaving her mark on so many at GMHC. Why: All proceeds from the evening will benefit GMHC, a volunteer-supported, community-based, nonprofit organization committed to national leadership in the fight against AIDS. GMHC services include nutrition guidance, food pantry access, and a meals program that serves to enhance medication absorption and the overall health of over 10,000 clients annually.
