The Gotham Film Festival™ seeks original films under 10 minutes long for its second-annual event. Scripted and documentary films are accepted in two categories Express (1-3 minutes, exclusive of titles and credits) and Local (under 10 minutes, exclusive of titles and credits). Four cash prizes of $500 will be offered to the winners for documentary and original films in each of these categories. The deadline is May 5, 2012.
Although professional submissions and entries from film students are welcome, the Gotham Film Festival™ was conceived primarily as an outlet for amateurs whose work might not otherwise have a broader audience than their families and friends.
Fred Klein, Esq., founder of Gotham City Networking, Inc., the sponsor of the Gotham Film Festival™ says, “People have always been curious about film and photography. New technology makes it easy for them to explore that interest. But once spent all the time making the film, where are you going to show it? That’s why we’re here. Many of our members were coming to us looking for a creative outlet, so we provided it.”
Films will be screened by a panel of volunteer judges. Selected films will be shown at New York’s prestigious Friar’s Club (which is not affiliated with the festival on June 6.
Entries may be submitted in a variety of digital formats. There is a $35 submission fee, which is waived for students. Complete details are available on www.enterthegothamfilmfestival.com.
