The sporting event that epitomizes a quintessential summer afternoon in the Hamptons returned on July 23, 2011 with the opening day of the 15th Anniversary Season of the Bridgehampton Polo Club. The scorching heat delayed the Polo match until 5:00pm when polo enthusiasts and Hamptons tastemakers watched the White Birch Farm team defeat Yello Cab 16-10 on the CIRCA Championship Field in the first match of the Monty Waterbury Cup. White Birch’s Mariano Aguerre led all scoring and was awarded MVP.
Guests in the invitation-only Blue Star Jets VIP Tent included Russell Simmons, Betsey Johnson, Kelly Klein and other high profile Hamptonites. Guests enjoyed the Sector No Limits watch display, Alex and Ani Bangle Bar, Urban Zen Lounge to benefit Donna Karan’s Urben Zen Foundation, live music by DJ Airloom, tastes from Southampton Social Club and featured drinks. Lounges in the reserved field side area under the Blue Star Jets VIP tent are available for purchase on a weekly basis or for the remainder of the season.
The afternoon ended with the Bridgehampton Polo Club being awarded with the coveted Five Star Diamond for its 15th Anniversary Season, presented by Founder Joseph Cinque and Emmy Award Winning Journalist Marvin Scott.
