Dear friends of the UN International Day of Peace,
Are you ready? It’s time to make your plans to observe and celebrate the 2012 International Day of Peace on September 21st. This year, the UN observance will be on the day itself, with the Secretary-General ringing the Peace Bell, followed by the annual student observance.
We look forward to hearing about your peace projects around the world. In fact, the students attending the UN event are being requested to be part of a committed peace project that they can display by poster board and/or video. This is the year for engagement in peace action.
I am delighted to attach the following charming designs from the UN Department of Public Information to illustrate the 2012 theme “Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future”:
- International Day of Peace poster
- International Day of Peace poster without UN logo (for use by your NGO with your own info)
- International Day of Peace post card – these will be available through UN DPI
High-resolution versions for printing will be available on request.
You will hear from me next when we have the message from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announcing the start of the 100-Day Countdown to the International Day of Peace on June 13th.
Meanwhile, I hope you will all be part of the following campaigns that pivot on the International Day of Peace, including a global truce and a pledge for one billion acts of peace:
