“Truth To Power” is a declaration of our Blackness. It is also a declaration of our humanity. Through music, spoken word and song, a dynamic cultural experience will be presented on April 28th at Aaron Davis Hall on the campus of City College at 7PM at Convent Ave and 138th Street in Harlem, NY The evening will include musicians Onaje Allan Gumbs,V. Jeffrey Smith, Marcus Mclaurine, Vince Ector and Gary Fritz; vocalists, Mem Nahadr and Tulivu- Donna Cumberbatch;poets Whitney Asoul Pulliam and Luquan Graham(Luquantumleap Lab). Luquan incidentally who be performing a poem written especially for the evening by Abiodun Oyewole of The Last Poets entitled “Truth To Power”. Poet, author, vocalist and activist Ms Nana Camille Yarbrough will also be there to bring her incomparable talent to the evening. The first ever Bob Cranshaw Community Achievement Award will be presented to Onaje Allan Gumbs by the Jazz Foundation of America that night. It will truly be an unforgettable evening of celebration through music, poetry and song. Not to be missed.
