From 8:00-3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21st, A Peace Vigil will be held in the Tillman Chapel at the Church Center for the United Nations. The Vigil will feature artists, religious leaders, NGO leaders who will consider the “Things that Make for Peace”. Participants will be invited throughout the day to write their prayers and hopes for peace upon luminaries which will then be taken to the Central Park Bandshell on Sunday the 23rd for the International Vigil for Peace and Ecology. Friday the 21st event will be organized in ½ hour blocks from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 beginning with the sacred ringing of the bell. Constituency will be invited to quiet prayer from 11a.m.-1:00p.m.
The “Things that make for a sustainable peace” are the cornerstone of all reflections and artists. What actions, what thoughts, what ways of life need to be part of everything we do? What do we need to change? How do we change it?
