World’s Fastest Talker tells Amusing Truths in “It Happened in New York” Putnam County, New York: The Guinness Book of World Record’s Fastest Talking Female, Fran Capo, is talking even faster these days, as she rattles off her 30 amusing true stories that happened in New York history from her book, It Happened in New York, ($9.95sc 158 pages, Globe Pequot Press). Stories as Capo puts it that will leave New Yorker’s saying, “I didn’t know that!” Capo, a Putnam county resident, comedienne, motivational speaker, four-time world record holder, nine-time author, spokesperson, TV host and adventurer will be on hand at the Barnes & Noble (3089 East Main Street, Route 6, Mohegan Lake on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.) for a one-hour talk and book signing, revealing fascinating and humorous events that span the history of the Excelsior State. Capo never liked history in school because it was too dry and boring. So she set out to produce a book that uncovered little known facts about the entire state, some facts that even the experts were unaware of. Being a comic Capo tells it all with a comedic flair. Through methodical detailed research and many interviews, Capo found out: – That New York was purchased from the wrong set of Indians and that the deed that was on display in Albany for a few years was a fake. – That to demonstrate the strength of the Brooklyn Bridge and alleviate fears, PT Barnum marched Jumbo the elephant and a bunch of his furry friends across it in 1884. – That legend has it that some of Captain Kidd’s treasure is buried under the pedestal of the State of Liberty. – That Woodstock started as a sitcom idea. Capo promises she will slow down enough to make her New York tales understood. And for children and trivia buffs, the section “Potpourri of Facts” lists world records broken in New York as well as information great for school reports from the state insect (which is the ladybug) to the fact that taxi drivers speak 60 languages. Capo presently writes a weekly blog for the WB called, Fran’s World, and has an Internet TV show by the same name in which archived episodes of her crazy adventures can be seen at her website, http://www.francapo.com . She is also in a new movie called, “Just Laugh”, that was just released with Joel Osteen, Pat Cooper and Doris Roberts. Capo’s other books will be on hand as well. www.francapo.com
