OCTOBER IS NATIONAL DENTAL HYGIENE MONTH!
Renowned Dentist, Advisor to the American Council on Science and Health, and Former Air Force Dental Flight Surgeon Dr. John Dodes Shares Tips for Caring for your Smile!
With National Dental Hygiene month upon us, now is the time to take charge of your oral care routine. According to Mintel reports, sixty-seven percent of Americans agree that having an attractive smile is important, yet an American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) survey showed that only one out of every two people is satisfied with their smile. Now, there are no excuses not to have a great smile! Good oral care at home really matters, and with so many simple tips and products out there, its easier than ever to achieve a great smile in a way that really fits your specific needs.
Its important to talk to your dental professional regularly to make sure you have the best oral care routine for your mouth. Renowned dentist Dr. John Dodes can speak to a variety of dental care topics including, but not limited to:
Buyer Beware Choosing the right dental professional is important. Dentists whose ads overemphasize “twilight sleep,” cosmetic dentistry and one-visit comprehensive treatment may not be interested in long-term maintenance care that does not generate high income. Good dentists take a personal interest in patients and their health. They are prevention-oriented but not faddists.
Don’t Skip Your Dental Check-Ups – Visiting your dental professional twice a year is the best way to determine the best oral care routine for you and detect problems early on that could cause you more economic pain in the future. In fact, some insurance companies are reducing dental coverage for oral care procedures like root canals if you skipped your preventive visits. Technique Matters Theres a proper way to brush and floss. Dr. Dodes can offer his tips, including visiting the Web site for the American Dental Association that offers great tutorial videos.
Enjoy a goodnight kiss – Two-thirds of Americans cite a “goodnight kiss” as their greatest motivation for taking care of their teeth. Brushing may clean your teeth, but what about the other surfaces in your mouth that harbor bad breath germs? Thats why adding a mouthwash really matters to clean the bad breath germs brushing and flossing may miss. Your significant other will thank you for it!
