The fans & general public then have dead time instead of the act promised. Welcome are music/bands/DJs/comedy/dance/spoken word/body painting/performance art & more!

During a studio visit Max told Risa about an idea for a show of artists’ proposals for fantastic, nearly impossible exhibitions. Risa was quite taken by the idea, and some months later, when the opportunity to curate this exhibition arose, she thought it might be the right time to manifest Max’s idea. But then! she ran into a friend, a film critic, who is currently obsessed with some short films made by Godard in lieu of written proposals to potential funders. He was having trouble getting films financed in the late 70s and 80s, and instead of filling out applications for funding, he made these shorts that were meant to encapsulate the theory and content of the longer films he wanted to make. These shorts now stand alone.
The curators are looking for finished works that have never been shown before & represent the idea of an as-yet unrealized piece or collection of pieces, with a particular desire for wall-mounted sculptures, illustrations, & miniatures. No video, installation, or performance will be accepted. No piece that requires a text-based explanation will be considered. All works must stand alone.

A “rallying for the common good” break: I personally want all to read this Village Voice cover story from last month. “Uptown Money Kills Downtown Art”. About how the fortunes of 99% + of artists, critics, curators, most/Mom & Pop Galleries & art biz. DECLINE as huge international money & crass commercialism (art as merely investment, status symbol & speculation) from Wall Street to the Nouveau Riche, is ascendant. An age old betrayal of the creative spirit as personal vision & (non-career) development is sacrificed, BETRAYED to serve the “market” is exactly what we must oppose with every fiber of our individual & collective souls.
