GO OUT FOR DINNER, HELP FIGHT CHILD HUNGER
Food Network and Share Our Strength Put Childhood Hunger on the Chopping Block
“Chopped Champions” Judge Marc Murphy Talks About the Dine Out For No Kid HungryFundraiser to Fight Childhood Hunger; Discusses Participating Restaurants in Your Area
Think you need to “go without” to help those in need? Starting September 18 through September 24, families can join in the fight against childhood hunger by treating themselves to a dinner out at a local restaurant. Across the country – AND IN YOUR AREA – thousands of restaurants are taking part in Share Our Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry. People across the country are encouraged to “dine out” at participating restaurants to support the fight against childhood hunger in the United States.
Childhood hunger in this country is a huge problem – U.S. Department of Agriculture statistics show that nearly one in four children in this country are at risk of hunger – but it is a situation everyone can help improve. Marc Murphy, chef, restaurateur, judge on Food Network’s “Chopped Champions,” and father of two, is helping put childhood hunger in America on the chopping block.
Murphy offers details about Share Our Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry, how viewers can find local participating restaurants (Marc’s own celebrated New York City restaurants are participating), and even a recipe demonstration for a restaurant-worthy meal to enjoy right in your own home.
Marc Murphy is a chef who regularly appears as a judge on Food Network’s weekly hit, CHOPPED and has been seen on IRON CHEF AMERICA, HOT CHEFS, THE MARTHA STEWART SHOW, MAKE MY DAY and THE TODAY SHOW among others. He opened his first solo enterprise with Landmarc Tribeca in 2004, which won rave reviews both for its eclectic French and Italian menu, as well as its highly untraditional wine list. He is now Executive Chef and Owner of all the Benchmarc restaurants, which includes Landmarc at the Time Warner Center (opened in May 2007) and Ditch Plains (opened May 2006). He is the Vice President of the Manhattan chapter of the New York State Restaurant Association, is a member of City Harvest’s Food Council and is on the Advisory Boards of Culintro, Passport NYC at the 92nd Street Y and the Institute of Culinary Education.
