More about Erin L Olivo, Ph.D., M.P.H: Erin L Olivo, Ph.D., M.P.H, is the Director of the Columbia Integrative Medicine Program and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medical Psychology at the Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Olivo earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Duke University. She earned Master’s Degrees in both Public Health and Social Work and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University. She has intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). She maintains a psychotherapy practice in New York City where she works with both adults and teenagers who are experiencing difficulties with stress, depression, anxiety, relationships, chronic illness or problems, such as self- destructive behavior, addictions and over-eating. Her approach is solution focused and integrates traditional cognitive behavioral therapy with mind-body strategies. In her research, conducted in collaboration with Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Olivo investigates the use of mind-body strategies in both medical and mental health settings. She has a particular interest in researching the efficacy and safety of integrative therapies as an adjunct to the conventional treatment of patients with or at risk for cardiovascular diseases.
