We are proud to annouce the addition of the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Proffessor Wangari Maathai, to our Passion Fashion game. Little Rosie’s drag’n drop costume was based on Wangari Maathai’s receiving her Nobel Prize in Oslo, Norway, and was created by Little Animation’s own Sophie Laplante. Born in Kenya, Africa, Wangari Maathai is the founder of The Green Belt Movement ; she is an environmentalist, a civil society and women’s rights activist, and a parliamentarian. The GBM provides income and sustenance to millions of people in Kenya through the planting of trees. They have to date planted more than 40 million trees!? Wangari Maathai is also an Earth Charter Commissioner, and has received many awards in acknowledgement of her work. She is an excellent role model for children because she has proven that the efforts of just one person can make a huge difference in the world.The Green Belt Movement has kindly allowed us to include her in our game which promotes historical, cultural, mythical and international characters and costumes. As the school year draws to a close, we’ll take this opportunity to shine a special spotlight on the “Working Together ” LEC project by teachers from Belgium, Russia and Japan, coordinated by S?o Monteiro of Aveiro, Portugal. The latest harvests from their gardens (LEC Earth Principle) are yielding carrots, beans and cotton! Congratulations to all the students, you have done great work!
