For the past 26 years, National Child Safety Passenger Week has emphasized the safe transport of children through the correct use of car-seats and safety restraints. On September 19-25 of this year, we will celebrate a new and essential focus in the campaign: driver responsibility. That benchmark, now enforced by Leandras Law, comes in response to the tragic death of 11-year-old passenger Leandra Rosado a loss that no passenger seat could have prevented, only sober and responsible driving.
Leandras law is a big first-step in ensuring parents and siblings not only buckle responsibly, but drive responsibly, said Tom Anelli, founder of one of the largest national DWI firms. Its an important shift in how we perceive National Child Safety Passenger Week and its success.
As both a DWI lawyer and father to two young girls, Tom can also discuss:
Repercussions of driver negligence
Future child-passenger safety measures
