Interview with: Murray Freedman, MD, Clinical Professor of OB/GYN, Medical College of Georgia and Karen Giblin, President, Red Hot Mamas. Menopause is often misunderstood as it is complex and a confusing time for many. Women often think of menopause as a time for hot flashes and mood changes. Because of this, the Sex and Menopause Survey was commissioned by the Red Hot Mamas, a leading menopause education provider, and sponsored by Duramed Pharmaceuticals. It was designed to go beyond the most common symptoms to understand women’s level of knowledge about less-discussed symptoms that affect their lives and relationships. The Sex and Menopause Survey is a nationwide Harris Interactive survey among 1,000 women of menopausal age. The survey was designed to dig deeper into how it affects relationships, sex, intimacy, and communication while a woman and her partner experience menopause. The survey determined: Ģ Women’s understanding of the symptoms and their effect on their personal , professional, and romantic relationships Ģ How the frequency and quality of sexual relationships have changed both the physical and emotional aspects — for women as they enter(ed) menopause Ģ How women communicate with their partners about their physical symptoms and associated emotions related to their menopausal experience For more info visit: http://redhotmamas.org http://redhotmamas.org More about Murray Freedman and Karen Giblin: Murray A.
