Nearly twenty years ago, Summer Sanders made swimming history at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, winning four medals, including two gold. Since then, she has launched a career in sports and entertainment broadcasting, and will be commentating for NBC and Yahoo! Sports for the Olympics this year in London. She attributes all of her success both in and out of the pool to the inspiration of her husband and two young children, ages 7 and 4.
To celebrate Mother’s Day, Summer Sanders can talk to you on how to raise a future Olympian – the topic of a book she wrote.
As a role mode to future generations of Olympians, the secret to her is never skipping the morning meal. That’s why she’s partnering with Kellogg’s on their Olympic program.
A few of her tips include:
• Eat right – always eat a good breakfast, it will give you the fuel you need to unlock your potential for the day.
• Get moving – Take your kids to exercise with you, it will keep you in shape and allows for extra bonding time.
• Remember “you” time –remind yourself that when you feel good, you’re that much better at being a parent
Sanders is one of eight Olympians making up Team Kellogg’s. To see how she got her start in swimming at a young age, check out http://www.kelloggs.com/teamusa.html#/teamusa/athletes/summer-sanders.html.
