For all concerned about Ebola, its causes,,, Submitted by Laura Seydel
For all concerned about Ebola, its causes and how we can campaign to ensure this doesn’t happen again, here are some vital resources which we at ONE hope can help
1. Firstly please read the piece by Bono http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bono/ebola-is-what-happens-whe_b_6193506.html connecting Ebola to the campaign to end extreme poverty. In it he mentions two further resources:
2. This powerful film http://act.one.org/sign/ebola_video which seethes in silence at the initial inaction and subsequent slow delivery by the international community, with African and global partnership and participation. Please watch it, share it, pass it on.
3. This Ebola Response Tracker http://www.one.org/international/ebola-tracker/ which monitors the facts about who is doing what, where, when, and how, to fight Ebola and support the health workers at humanity’s frontline against this killer.
We hope these both help articulate people’s feelings and offer many of us a constructive course of advocacy action, alongside giving money. The failures here are political, not medical.
We will get back to you soon about the historic importance of 2015 for not just beating Ebola – but beating its underlying causes: extreme poverty, underinvestment in health, corruption, injustice- and much more….please watch this space.
