The 4th annual “Peace Day” Global Internet Broadcast, will take place September 20th to September 23rd, 2012. The broadcasts celebrate the UN International Day of Peace.
The broadcasts are produced by Unity Foundation, a non-profit organization with a 36 year history of promoting peace, cooperation and unity around the world. The foundation works directly with the United Nations Department of Public Information and the UN Messengers of Peace Programme on the content and celebrity involvement for the broadcast.
The “Peace Day” Global Internet Broadcasts promote the vitally important work of the United Nations, its humanitarian agencies, and organizations around the world working for peace, the environment, human rights, and social and economic justice. The broadcasts give major focus to promoting the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals by 2015.
Through the assistance of the office of the Messengers of Peace we have received personal Messages of Peace from actor Michael Douglas, environmentalist Dr. Jane Goodall, Nobel Prize Winner Wangari Maathai, author Paulo Coelho, and Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein of Jordan.
Other prominent celebrites who have already taped their personal Message of Peace for the “Peace Day” Broadcasts, including musicians Ringo Starr and Michelle Phillips, author Marianne Williamson, two time Olympian Marilyn King, and actors Edward James Olmos, Diane Ladd, Ed Asner, Marilu Henner, Peter Coyote.
The “Peace Day” Global Internet Broadcasts stream live from the official website of the United Nations and the websites of more than 2,000 organizations around the world, reaching millions of people.
