Established in 2010, Mexico Initiative is the largest social initiative in Mexico. In two years there have been over one hundred thousand proposals that seek to make positive change. In total, 125 initiatives have received financial recognition. In 2011, the total amount granted reached $180.3 million pesos ($13.85 million dollars.)
In 2011, the Initiative’s Council created a Special Recognition to distinguish the work of organizations based in other countries. The first recipient of this special award is Parents Alliance of Houston.
“The Technical Board of Mexico Initiative believes that your work to empower Mexican immigrants in the United States through online education effort is the most prominent among such organizations.”
The Award carries financial grant of three million pesos, one contributed by Mexico Initiative and two by the Federal Government.
