The Water Festival was a Tribute for Pete’s friend the late Carl Schwartz, longtime environmental activist leader and several time NYCFC President. It was also part of the month long celebration of Petes 90thbirthday and celebrated the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson sailing up the Hudson River. Held at the Pier 66 Maritime on the Hudson Riverin NYC the festival was a grand musical, networking and environmental speakers event.
The legendary folk musician Pete Seeger who wrote classics like Where Have All the Flowers Gone and If I Had A Hammer, is an author of several books and is one the worlds leading environmentalists. Pete Seeger founded the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater organization which was instrumental in the cleaning up of the Hudson River.His song “We Shall Overcome” continues to be the universal theme song for Peace, Justice and Non-violence.
100% of the profits received from this auction will be donated to the NYC Friends of Clearwater, a registered 501(c)(3) for environmental education and advocacy work, to help the organization continue to fulfill its important mission of educating the community on environmental issues.www.nycfriendsofclearwater.org
