Pete Seeger has been unwavering all his life in striving for peace and equality among all peoples. For over six decades Pete has toured the globe as a tireless crusader for civil liberties, human rights, world peace, and is an icon for water protection. Pete Seeger founded the Hudson River Sloop ” Clearwater ” which is recognized around the world as the symbol for river protection and clean water. In 2002 Pete Seeger was named “Clean Water Hero” for promoting the passage of, and keeping alive, the promises included in the historic 1972 Clean Water Act. No more need be said to emphasize his influence on so many than, long after we are all gone, Pete’s anthem, “We Shall Overcome”, will still be sung with grace and humility by the down-trodden of this world.
