Prime Minister of Moldova, Vlad Filat, met with Limmud FSU organizers yesterday in Chisinau
In advance of the opening of Limmud FSU for Russian-speakers, which is begins today and is taking place for the first time in Chisinau (Kishinev), the capital of Moldova, to mark 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Israel, Vlad Filat, the Prime Minister of Moldova, met with the Limmud FSU organizers yesterday morning.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister called for the widening and strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries. “We have heard a great deal about Israeli business initiatives and we would encourage Israeli investors in all branches of the economy to come and invest in our beautiful land,” said Prime Minister Filat.
The Prime Minister pointed out that based on the new government policy which he is spear-heading, Moldova is demonstrating a growing interest in persuading investors and foreign companies to invest in the Moldovan economy. He emphasized that he is delighted that Limmud FSU had chosen to hold its conference in Chisinau for the first time.
A delegation of Limmud FSU leaders met with the Prime Minister, led by the US businessman, Matthew Bronfman, the chairman of the Limmud FSU International Steering Committee, Chaim Chesler, Limmud FSU founder, Yoram Dori, strategic advisor to the President of Israel Shimon Peres, and the heads of the Moldovan Jewish community, Alexander Bilinkis and Alexander Pinchevsky.
The Moldovan Prime Minister will be the keynote speaker at the opening of the Limmud FSU conference which begins today, Sunday June 10, in Chisinau. More than 400 Jewish citizens from all over Moldova and Eastern Ukraine are expected to participate.
