The Skin Cancer Foundation hosted its Annual Skin Sense Award Gala on October 12, 2010, at the Pierre Hotel in New York City.
Sam Champion, weather anchor of ABC’s Good Morning America, hosted the night’s festivities. Mr. Champion has battled skin cancer and done much to raise awareness about the disease.
The program included a cocktail reception, dinner, and special performance by piano iconoclast ELEW. A modern day pop artist and musical revolutionary, he is known for his thunderous new style of playing, an inspired melding of ragtime, rock and pop called Rockjaz.
Other notable guests expected to attend included Matthew Settle, of The CW’s Gossip Girl, actress Shannon Elizabeth, Phyllis Summerville, of Showtime’s The Big C, Kevin Navayne of CBS’s CSI: New York, Tony Sirico, formerly of HBO’s The Sopranos, acclaimed food critic Gael Greene and model Kathy Tong.
The Gala alsohonored Gabriel Tanbourgi, President of BASF Care Chemicals and Al Robertson, General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer ofEnergizer Personal Care.
Tickets were $1750 per person.
