Country Star and Veteran Josh Gracin Invites Americans to Share Their Inspiring Stories for
National Portraits of Heroes Song Contest
Now more than ever is a time where Americans across the nation share the same heroes: our military servicemen and womenthe backbone of our great country.
Country star and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Josh Gracin who shot to stardom after appearing in the second season of American Idol has teamed up with Sears for the national Portraits of Heroes song contest to highlight our brave veterans and active servicemen and women. The winner will have his or her story turned into a song, which will be written and performed by Josh Gracin and they will be flown to Nashville and spend a day with Josh in the studio while he records the song.
Now through June 1, veterans, active servicemen and women, military spouses and family members across the country are invited to submit a portrait of their hero and description (1000 words or less) of what makes him or her a star in their eyes. Entries submitted at sears.com/heroesathome will be judged on the originality of the story, connection to the heroes theme and photo that brings the story to life.
The prize package for the winner of the Sears Portraits of Heroes song contest includes:
Personal story composed into a song that will be written, produced and performed by Josh Gracin
A trip for four to Nashville, Tenn. on June 24-26 to spend a day with Josh in the recording studio
Autographed guitar and CD from Josh
Gracin can also discuss the fundraising drive at Sears in conjunction with the nonprofit Rebuilding Together for the Heroes at Home program, which will renovate homes of military families across the country in an effort to improve the lives of American military families by making necessary repairs, improvements or modifications to their homes, as well as benefit Rebuilding Togethers Disaster Assessment and Response Program. Americans can lend their support by making a donation to Heroes at Home in any Sears store or online through July 16. All donations will support the rehabilitation of homes for veterans and military families across the country.

About Josh Gracin
Josh Gracin captured the attention of millions of American Idol fans during his season two run on what has become an American cultural phenomenon. Beyond the stage, Gracin possesses a poets heart and an ex-Marines discipline and work ethic. A Michigan native who grew up listening to country and R&B music, Gracin auditioned for Idol (placing fourth on season two) while serving in the Marine Corps. Following his run on American Idol and the completion of his military service, he signed with Lyric Street Records and released his self-titled debut album in June 2004.
