Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff will be seamlessly blending enjoyment of the Hamptons with making a difference for people through her leadership and support of multiple charities this summer. Jean will serve as the Chairwoman of the 55th Annual Southampton Hospital Summer Party and as an Honorary Chairwoman of the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation’s Fourth Annual Unconditional Love Dinner Dance.
Jean is serving as the Chairwoman of the 55th Annual Southampton Hospital Summer Party. This will be her third time hosting the Gala, scheduled to take place on August 3, 2013. The fundraiser perennially attracts around nine hundred guests, and raised nearly $2 million when Jean was chair in 2011 and $1.75 million when she chaired it in 2010. Proceeds from this year’s Gala will go to the Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department and the Audrey and Martin Gruss Heart and Stroke Center.
Jean is also serving as an Honorary Chair of the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation’s Fourth Annual Unconditional Love Dinner Dance, which will take place on July 20, 2013. The elegant Gala will be a dinner for about 250 people. Proceeds raised will be directed not only to daily care of the shelter animals, but also to special projects undertaken by the shelter over the past year. Included are rescue efforts for dogs that have been rescued from puppy mills and the programs that the shelter has developed for special needs children.
Jean is on several charity boards, including Southampton Bath & Tennis Club’s Charitable Foundation, The New York Women’s Foundation®, The Couture Council, JBFCS, French Heritage Society, and Lighthouse International Advisory Board. Each year Jean chairs and sponsors a number of charity events both in the Hamptons and New York.
