Teams consist of three amateurs who participate in the Local Qualifying Events and are joined by a PGA Professional at the Section and National Championship levels. Each team member must have an established USGA approved handicap index. The total maximum handicap index of all three partners combined will be no more than 54.0 if all male, 70.0 if one female, 80.0 if two female and 90.0 if all three female. Each team members handicap index is converted to the course handicap for the tees being used and then divided by 50 percent to calculate the number of strokes each team member receives. For Local Qualifying Events that have a minimum of seven and maximum of 17 teams, one team will advance to the Section Championship. Local Qualifying Events with 18 or more teams will have two teams earn the right to compete at their designated Section Championship. Only one team per Section Championship will advance to the National Championship. The National Championship will be conducted October 20-22, at the historic Pinehurst Resort.
