ISEF Young Leadership Hosts Event To Support Students in Israel
Reporting by Leah
The ISEF Young Leadership hosted an exciting evening and cocktail event to support deserving students in Israel. The event was held at the trendy Manex Showroom in New York City with award-winning photographer Zion Ozeri, one of the world’s leading photographers exploring the Jewish experience, on March 7, 2010.
Young Jewish professionals from diverse backgrounds enjoyed an inspiring photography presentation by Zion Ozeri, delectable food, hip music, and an evening of socializing to support students in Israel.
Inspired by their recent mission to Israel, ISEF’s Young Leadership wish to make an impact in Israel by helping to open the doors of higher education to youth from low-income communities by helping them narrow social gaps and end the cycle of poverty.
For more than 30 years, ISEF has helped tens of thousands of Israeli students – mostly Sephardic – from some of Israel’s poorest neighborhoods and development towns to better their lives through education. ISEF was founded by a group of Sephardic Jews led by Edmond J. Safra z”l, Lily Safra and Nina Weiner.
Zion Ozeri was born in Israel to immigrants from Yemen and his striking photographs have been exhibited in museums worldwide and appeared in The New York Times, Newsweek, and The Jerusalem Report. His curriculum, The Jewish Lens, is being used in schools in the US and Israel.
The event was held at the Manex Showroom, 126 West 25 Street in New York City, and tickets cost $75 per person.
