Bronx, NY —June 21, 2026 — The Nasry Michelen Foundation calls on organizations across healthcare, education, business, and philanthropy to join its mission of expanding educational access and strengthening New York City’s future healthcare workforce at its “Playing it Fore-ward” Golf Outing on Monday, September 14, 2026. The event will be hosted at the historic 131-year-old Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course, the nation’s first public golf course
The Foundation’s core goal is to support undergraduate students pursuing careers in the allied health sciences by providing scholarships, mentorship, and internship opportunities. As outlined in the Foundation’s mission, it seeks to “promote excellence through mentorship and financial support… and foster an environment that encourages lifelong learning and service to diverse and underrepresented communities.”
Since 2022, the Foundation has awarded over 100 scholarships to students at Eugenio María de Hostos Community College — a milestone made possible through the generosity of donors and partners. Philanthropic support enables the Foundation to provide vital financial assistance, mentorship, and internship programs to health sciences students who maintain a 3.5 GPA and are actively engaged in community service.
“With your strong support, we can expand our impact — ensuring that promising students can complete their degrees and serve the communities that need them most.” Miosotis Munoz, Board Member
“The support I receive isn’t just financial—it gives me hope when things feel uncertain and reminds me that my dreams truly matter. Because of this support, I can keep going, keep learning, and believe in a better future. Your support can change a student’s life—just as it’s changing mine.” Sarah Menacho, grant recipient
In light of recent budget cuts that have intensified financial challenges for students, the need for dedicated, reliable partnerships has become more urgent than ever. Many students risk delaying or abandoning their studies because of financial strain, even as New York City continues to face a shortage of healthcare professionals.
The “Playing it Fore-ward” outing offers partners a meaningful opportunity to join this mission while enjoying a day of community, networking, and celebration. The event welcomes both golfers and non-golfers to enjoy the newly renovated 18-hole course — a day of great music, entertainment, networking, games, raffles, food, and drinks.
