As a producer of the United Nations International Day of Happiness presented by “Humanicy” (‘Human-Diplomacy’), we are inviting you to the General Assembly Hall, N.Y.C., on Sunday, March 20, 2016.
In 2012, the U.N. General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/66/281 proclaiming March 20 as “The International Day of Happiness.” We would like you to join with us in celebration.
The morning will focus on the art and science of happiness and wellbeing, as well as the role of happiness and wellbeing in building peaceful, just, and inclusive societies. The afternoon will feature a Celebration of Happiness.
The elements of the event are consistent with the three-pillar approach of the U.N. 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: economic growth, social development, and environmental protection, with a focus on wellbeing of the people and the planet.
We anticipate that U.N. Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon and the President of the GA, H.E. Mr. Mogens Lykketoft. H.E. Ambassador Angelo Antonio Toriello, Permanent Rep. of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe to the U.N., is the key organizer of this event.
The ‘Humanicy,’ advocated by Amb. Toriello, unites art presentations with discussions regarding the critical importance of mutual understanding in a world facing civilization clashes, poverty, violence, intolerance, youth in search of a better future — and all peoples wanting a better world for generations to come.
Cheers, Jim Luce
