Series to Cover Global Issues and Promote Cross-Cultural Understanding
Boston, MA, July 23, 2012– United Planet today announced the launch of its new global webinar series in support of its mission to foster cross-cultural understanding, and address shared challenges to unite the world in a community beyond borders. The first webinar in the series will take place on July 27th, 2012 at 4 pm EST, and is open to all. Interested participants can join the webinar series by submitting a request to alumni@unitedplanet.org.
The fundamental aim of the webinar series is to initiate discussion around global issues and foster relationships between motivated people all over the globe. Each webinar will focus on a specific topic or theme, featuring guest speakers from the United Planet community, and will be led by a knowledgeable and experienced United Planet staff member or alumni.
This month’s webinar will spotlight the Ghanaian educational system and its challenges and triumphs. The webinar will be led by United Planet’s local Ghanaian Programs Coordinator, Akos Ganyo, along with two current volunteers contributing directly from the field.
Theresa Higgs, Vice President of Global Operations at United Planet, commented, “We’re really excited about our webinar series as it supports our holistic model of cross-cultural engagement. These webinars will allow new ways for Quest alumni to engage in issues that they were exposed to during their Quests, and will also provide an opportunity for those who are considering traveling or unable to travel at this time to become actively engaged in global issues.”
The webinar taking place on July 27th, focusing on the Ghanaian educational system will be the first in a series of discussions. Each monthly webinar will focus on a current global theme, including but not limited to, women’s empowerment, education, conservation, and public health in various cultures all over the world.
