Global Fund’s Latest Grants Cycle: Nearly $2 million to 138 Grassroots Women’s Groups in 68 Countries In our latest docket in June, the Global Fund released $2 million in grants to 138 women’s groups. In this, our 20th year, distributing grants is as rewarding as it was on day one. Whether the amount is $5,000 or $80,000, womens groups use these funds strategically to fight for their rights and improve the conditions of their communities, said Shalini Nataraj, Vice President of Programs. Read the press release Two Global Fund Grantees Among 2008 Gruber Womens Prize Recipients Two of the three recipients of this years Gruber Womens Prize are members of the Global Fund Network. Yanar Mohammed from Iraq, an advisor for the Middle East and North Africa region and Nadera Shalhoub Kevorkian from Mada al-Carmel, a grantee group based in Israel, are among this years recipients. The third winner who will share the $500,000 prize is Sapana Pradhan Malla from Nepal. The Womens Rights Prize ceremony will take place on November 11 at Columbia Law school, New York.
