(New York, NY – Aug. 5, 2021) This Saturday, August 7th, the nonprofit Wings over Haiti will host its 4th Annual Hamptons Artists for Haiti Benefit, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the East Hampton Airport on Daniels Hole Road in Wainscott, NY. The benefit proceeds will go to build more classrooms in a school in Ranquitte, Haiti, an area where impoverished children have little to no access to education. Sag Harbor artist and pilot Jonathan Glynn, who founded Wings over Haiti, first opened the school earlier this year to 51 students. Their goal is to expand the school’s capacity to 400 students. Tickets are available at wingsoverhaiti.net
Fittingly, the “Wings Over Haiti” event will be held at the East Hampton Airport, spread over three airplane hangers. It will feature a silent art auction of works by over 30 East End artists, curated by Coco Myers of Folioeast. The artworks include paintings, photographs and sculptures.
The Wings Over Haiti Honorary Committee includes Alec Baldwin, Donna Karan, Patricia Arquette, Eric Fischl, Maria Bello, Molly Channing and Emily Wickersham.
In 2010, Wings Over Haiti built the first school in the capital of Port au Prince, after Haiti was ravaged by a terrible earthquake. Jonathan Glynn was one of the first private pilots to bring medical supplies to remote areas of Haiti. He and his team then built the first school, which now has over 200 students and is expanding by a grade every year. All of the students get two meals a day and medical attention, which they would not receive otherwise. “You have to feed the kids first. Only then, you can feed their minds,” says Glynn.
The benefit will feature an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, great raffle prizes, Change Water (provided by Grammy-nominated artist SaulPaul), CBD cocktails, and music by DJ Gian Carlo. Airplanes will be on display. Plenty of free parking will be available for all guests.
Tickets are $175 in advance, $195 at the door and are tax deductible. Children under 12 are free. This is a family-friendly event, and all are welcome.
