December 19, 2011 – Today, Yes We Can For Progress in conjunction with Build a Better Planet announced a national campaign to encourage every caring American to help build a sustainable educational and living facility for young women and their children in Haiti to be known as the “Mommy And Me” School and Residence. Participants may support this fundraising efforts by making a pledge on Kickstarter. Please visit the following site below. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/buildabetterplanet/the-mommy-and-me-school-and-residence-maman-et-moi or “Mommy & Me” when you go to the Kickstarter site.
In addition, Build A Better Planet, a non-profit organization promoting sustainability, will be producing a film, Maman et Moi, documenting the work of Yes We Can For Progress in Haiti, which will be used to spread the word about the important community building efforts they are organizing and the sustainable economy they are building. This will be a community film, supported by the community! Help us! The Film cannot happen without you. Pledge your support on Kickstarter.
Since the earthquake on January 12, 2010, Yes We Can For Progress, a 501(c)(3), grassroots, multi-cultural organization, has been working with various other humanitarian groups, serving as a supportive crossing bridge to bring visions to reality. During visits to Haiti, it became apparent that the care of mothers and children who have been orphaned, injured, or otherwise traumatized is a major priority. Hence, the need to create the “Mommy & Me” School and Residence (Ecole et Residence ‘Maman et Moi’).
Our mission is to provide care with dignity through the establishing of a group residence in a secure and supportive family living environment setting, for expectant mothers of age 14 – 21, many of whom are victims of rape, along with offering quality care for their newborns. We, also, intend to provide primary and secondary education for school children through the age of adolescence.
Yes We Can For Progress, working with Build A Better Planet, is dedicated to teaching the young people of Haiti community building, by giving them the skills they need to create a sustainable economy. We are giving them a hand up, not a hand out, so that they, in turn, may continue to teach others.
Please join us for a Gala for Haiti!
