About Young Afikim:
Afikim empowers children and their parents. Afikim is a network of afternoon learning centers across Israel that offers new hope and possibilities for disadvantaged, troubled families. It is the only framework of its kind to work with both children and their parents on a long-term basis.
Children attend Afikim’s after-school centers for six years – from third grade through eighth grade, while their parents attend Afikim’s program to bolster parenting and vocational skills. Over the six year program, Afikim’s disadvantaged children develop the self-assurance and social tools to succeed in school, serve in the Israeli army, and become contributing members of society.
