Peace Departments should be established in every government. Our One Billion Signatures for Peace will create the support and political resolve needed for all governments to finally establish permanent infrastructures for building sustained peace. Our petition for the creation of peace departments has been approved by culture of peace working groups at the United Nations.
Peace Economies must be created to offer jobs and profits as we replace conflict economies. An example of proposed project would be the electrification of the world where 1.2 billion people still live without electricity. Think of the power plants, hydro- electric dams, wire manufacturing, composite utility poles all generating jobs and profits while bringing needed services to those most in need.
Our symposium – “Peace As An Economic Engine” will bring together economists, entrepreneurs, & visionaries that have the new economy ideas to stimulate business participation. These successful companies will be the examples of how to conduct business profitably with a corporate heart.
Peace Business Certifications will recognize and reward businesses that align their operations and strategies with universally respected principles in the areas of human rights, labor, community, environment, anti-corruption and peace. Ultimately, the world’s citizens can invest in peace with every purchase they make and co-create lasting peace by supporting Certified Peace Businesses and the new peace economy.
Peace Practitioners education provides helpful instruction on methods to cultivate peace within our hearts, homes and communities. Our curriculum is strategically divided into Inner Peace, Family Peace and Community Peace. Each component has approximately 25 hours of instruction from the world’s best teachers that will give Peace Practitioners fresh ways to think and then apply the ideas for creating peace.

Los Angeles, California
WHEREAS, the City of Los Angeles supports providing a safe and nurturing environment that embraces diversity and fosters peace by encouraging and inspiring understanding, goodwill, and compassionate actions, and
WHEREAS, the City of Los Angeles is an international city that is striving to create a balance of prosperity, justice and hope that nurtures peace within it’s communities through dialogue and cooperation, and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles citizens have helped create and are helping to develop Los Angeles as an International City of Peace, as part of a global, social movement through the development of peace initiatives that support a culture of peace, and
WHEREAS, the United Nations has designated 21 September of each year to be the International Day of Peace, devoted to commemorating and sowing and nurturing the seeds of peace and inspiring citizens to commit to practice peaceful compassionate behavior for the rest of the year and thus living the ideals of peace, therefore be it
RESOLVED the city of Los Angeles council and mayor proclaims the City of Los Angeles, California to be a City of Peace in perpetuity, and be it further
RESOLVED that the city of Los Angeles council and mayor designates 21 September of each year to be the Los Angeles Day of Peace in perpetuity, and be it further
RESOLVED that the city of Los Angeles council and mayor support the development of policies, procedures and practices that promote establishing peace in our city in perpetuity.

We are a not for profit located in Los Angeles. PeaceNow is leading an initiative to officially designate Los Angeles as an International City of Peace and have Los Angeles join the United Nations in recognizing September 21st as the International Day of Peace.
The International Cities of Peace initiative is based in Dayton, OH (where the Bosnia Peace Treaty was signed). http://www.internationalcitiesofpeace.org. Our goal is to have this effort successfully completed by International Peace Day on September 21st.

The International Cities of Peace has a goal of 1,000 cities by 2020. With the adoption of this resolution Los Angeles will join cities around the world including New York, Atlanta, Detroit, Toronto, Philadelphia, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and The Hague and become the 87th International City of Peace.
As there are no costs associated with this and tremendous good will to be enjoyed by this positive measure we hope it enjoys nearly unanimous support from the city council and Mayor Garcetti.
Our goal is to have Mayor Garcetti and supporting city council members present for the reading of the resolution on International Peace Day, the 21st of September at the PeaceNow world headquarters on Venice Walk. We are planning a day of music and celebration of International Peace Day in the spirit of peace as encouraged by the United Nations to raise the awareness of the support for peace.
We hope Councilman Buscaino will add his support to this initiative and join us on September 21st. This is the reason for this meeting request. We want to answer any questions the councilman may have concerning this resolution and secure his support.
