UNESCO and Good News Corporation Partner to Celebrate
The UN International Day of Peace
NEW YORK, NY: The International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) is observed around the world on September 21. Established in 1981 by the unanimous United Nations resolution 36/37, the General Assembly declared a day devoted to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.”
Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova, sees this partnership as an important opportunity to raise awareness, especially among young people. “UNESCO is honored to partner with Good News Corporation, whose mission is to use events and media to strengthen the United Nations International Day of Peace message,” she said, adding, “This is part of our mandate, and clearly stated in the preamble of our constitution that since wars begin in the minds of men and women, it is in the minds of men and women that the defenses of peace must be constructed.”
Paul Sladkus, founder of Good News Corporation shares, “Our Company is honored to partner with UNESCO and the New York City Schools “Respect for All Program” for the UN International Day of Peace initiative. McKinsey & Co. states that 1.6 billion people are aware of the day and we will be broadcasting our events to the world.”
