1. WORLD PEACE DAY CONCERT SEPTEMBER 13, 21 & 23
Good News Corporation, our 501 C- 3, is delighted to inform you that we have been given New York Central Park Great Lawn, for September 13, to hold our International Day of Peace Celebration “Pause the World” LIVE & FREE. We will rebroadcast this show on September 21, UN World Peace Day. It is very special as the Great Lawn can only be used four times a year and they have given it to us. We are in the process of securing the world’s most famous talent this week, as without it we will lose the part until next year. We are reaching out to super-stars like: Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Roberta Flack, Herbie Hancock, Yoko Ono, Adele, Pete Seeger, Peter Yarrow, Bono, Simon and Garfunkel, Billy Joel, David Benoit, David Ippolito, The Rascals, Mohammad Ali, Michael Douglas, Leonardo DiCaprio, Marianne Williamson, Russell Simmonds, Deepak Chopra, Desmond Tutu, Oprah and many others. There are many to ask in the world of PEACE. Should you have any contacts to super-stars please let us know ASAP, 212.647.1212, Paul
We don’t know if they can do it, but whatever happens, park or no park we will still create our event on September 21, 2012, even in our own new very large studio in Brooklyn, also with live remotes all over the world. This show is for the world, to celebrate our Goodness and to take a moment to PAUSE to be appreciative of life and to have HOPE. The show is a prelude to celebrate the actual declared UN Peace Day of September 21 the following week. We will ask the world to Pause on September 13 and 21 at 4pm and 7pm and to perform a “Practical Acts of PEACE”, i.e. hug a fellow man/woman, hug Mother Nature and Animal Kingdom, forgive a person, drop your guns… whatever is peace for you.
We also will still do our 11th Annual Vigil for International Peace concert on September 23 at the Band Shell, a great event of Peace Super-Stars.
Our Good News Motto is, All we are is what we are with each other. Paul
Milestone, (MBC), our multicultural and niche marketing organization, est. 1985, is proud to announce that we are now sharing a wonderful resource for pregnant and new mothers in English and in Spanish. Text4baby is a free text messaging program that sends information to mothers during pregnancy and throughout baby’s first year.
MBC got involved last year as part of an outreach effort by text4baby founding sponsor Johnson & Johnson. We were asked to create video of some of the mothers using text4baby. We were honored! As a very proud grandpa, I also appreciated learning the important information that text4baby shares. Text4bay sends three educational text messages a week for free, thanks to an agreement from the U.S. wireless carriers to waive standard messaging rates. Here are some examples of the content:
• Even if U feel great, a pregnant woman needs check-ups with a Dr./midwife. To find care, call your health plan. For help with costs, call 800-311-2229.
• A seat belt protects you & your baby. Shoulder belt goes between your breasts & lap strap goes under your belly (not on or above). Wear it every time.
• If you’re anxious, depressed or feeling hopeless & don’t know where to turn, call Postpartum Support Int’l at 800-944-4773 for help & support.
• You & anyone who cares for your baby need a whooping cough shot. The flu shot too during flu season. Call 800-232-4636 to find out where to get them.
It’s simple and easy to use and we all know that today, the cell phone is one of the best ways to communicate; this is even more true for busy moms! In fact, I never had a cell phone until my daughter got pregnant!
Health is wealth, so I’m especially pleased that we’ve been able to partner on this important health education service to connect all moms to this information.
Join us in spreading the word about text4baby to your family, friends, and colleagues. Tell them to text BABY (or BEBE in Spanish) to 511411. Visit www.text4baby.org and our site http://goodnewsplanet.com/sponsors-funders/text4baby-org/ for more information.
3. Senior Net
Earlier this year, SeniorNet added three initiatives that have been particularly popular. SeniorNet recently launched a social media blog http://seniornet.org/blog/ to help familiarize users with social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. SeniorNet also partnered with Winster an on-line gaming site for seniors and boomers designed to encourage social interaction, collaboration and mental stimulation through puzzles and card games. Also this year, SeniorNet entered into a partnership with Milestone Broadcast Corporation. In 1998 Milestone created Good News Planet to broadcast to the world, life affirming, thought provoking Good News, with a focus on seniors, technology, health, science, travel and entertainment from leaders in these industries. Information from Good News Planet is now available through the SeniorNet website.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with our progress after a quarter Century,” said Leslie M. Smith, SeniorNet board chairman and IBM Business Development Executive. “With the continued support of our sponsors, partners and volunteers we have been able to bridge the technology gap in many areas, helping seniors and the underserved enjoy fulfilling, rewarding lives.”
